Avatar Incredible Graphics and Acting
May 1, 2010
Being an avid World of Warcraft game player, I couldn’t wait for Avatar to hit the local theaters. The movie, Avatar is based on the popular role playing game.
I have to admit, I was thrilled with Avatar. The graphics in the movie were incredibly strong and filled with amazing details. I was drawn into the fantasy world immediately.
The plot of Avatar was slightly weak. However, the writers took time to develop the characters immediately. Movie watchers of Avatar are drawn into the lives and the goals of each character. You fall in love with some of the characters and hate the other ones.
Star Trek the 2009 Movie
January 13, 2010
I really enjoyed watching the television series, Star Trek. I couldn’t wait until the 2009 Star Trek movie would come out into the local theaters here. I waited with anticipation from the first day I saw the previews on television.
The acting in Star Trek movie was quite exceptional. There were bits and points that were quite humorous. The movie started out actually quite funny.
However, I found myself bored and ready to get up and leave. I wanted to ask for a refund of my money. The movie Star Trek gives the background and life of the USS Enterprise team during their early years. It tells how they all ended up together on the prized and infamous ship.
The story line was dull, boring and very predictable… and that is being polite. It was extremely disappointing to watch. I couldn’t believe all the hype and excitement I felt prior to getting to see the movie.
Even though the acting was good, there just wasn’t a whole lot for the actors and actresses to work with when it comes to the script. You can save your money and skip this movie. You will save yourself a lot of disappointment.
Movie Review: Pitch Black aka Chronicles of Riddick Part 1
March 2, 2009
Pitch Black is a movie that is not for the feint of heart. It will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. Make sure you get your snack and everything ready before putting this DVD in the player. Vin Diesel does an excellent acting job in this movie that lasts 110 minutes. A 110 minutes might seem like a long time. However, trust me; time will fly watching this movie.
Vin Diesel is an escaped convict being transported with other passengers. The ship crashes onto a very hostile planet. The creatures on the planet are allergic to light and it does severe damage to them. The surviving passengers of the ship must escape to a rescue ship without getting eaten by the creatures of the night.
Sounds simple? The first problem is everyone is afraid of the Riddick. He has a horrible reputation and they don’t know if they can trust him. In the end, it’s Riddick that everyone is depending on to get them off the planet and back to safety.
The second problem, the survivors are faced with an eclipse. The entire planet turns pitch black. Riddick has special eyes that can see in the dark. For this reason, he becomes even more relied on for safety.
Do they make it to safety? You’ll have to watch the DVD to find out. If you like Pitch Black, there is a Pitch Black 2 as well. These movies are also known as: The Chronicles of Riddick.
Pitch Black is rated R because of the foul language, extreme violence and blood and gore.
The Unborn (R: 2009)

The Unborn (R:2009)
Written by/Director David S. Goyer. Starring: Odette Yustman … Casey Beldon; Gary Oldman … Rabbi Sendak; Meagan Good … Romy; Cam Gigandet … Mark Hardigan; Idris Elba … Arthur Wyndham; Jane Alexander … Sofi Kozma; and many more.
- “Sometimes the soul of a dead person has been so tainted with evil that it is denied entrance to heaven. It must endlessly wander the borderlands between worlds, desperately searching for a new body… “
One of my favorite horror and mythological themes: the opposite alternative doppleganger-like being that lives in the otherworldly realm with portals into our world by means of mirrors. I’m not sure why I’m obsessed with the mirror-being, doppleganger type entities lore and tales, but I am. This movie definitely has some intriquing twists and ideas behind those legends/beliefs. Its a story about a twin, who doesn’t know she’s a twin. Cursed by a family lineage of twins afflicted by Nazi occultism/experimentation that opened a portal in the past for a evil-doppleganger like entity called a “dybbuk”, a malevolent spirit that refuses to leave the human world and inhabits the body of a person, until it can find a way to be “born”. First haunting his twin sister by dreams and then visions, she goes through a disturbing fight for survival as she wraps herself around Jewish mysticism in order to have the “dybbuk” exorcized from her. Good effects and a good plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.
The Black Hole (2006: PG)
January 30, 2009
Blackhole (2006: PG) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433883/
Director: Tibor Takács; Starring: Kristy Swanson … Shannon Muir; Judd Nelson … Eric Bryce; David Selby … General Ryker; Heather Dawn … Sgt. Alicia Bennett; Jennifer Lyn Quackenbush … Elizabeth Williams; Christa Campbell … Advisor Coldwell; Peter Mayer … General Tate; and many more. Rated PG for sci-fi violence, peril and thematic elements. It’s your typical physics experiment goes bad. Down low in a atomic research facility outside of St. Louis, Missouri; scientists somehow tear the fabric of space and time opening a black hole. The hole is the least of their worries as some kind of energy predator comes out terrorizing the city and power grid, disintegrating humans and sucking energy. Linked to the blackhole this creature feeds the hole to enormous proportions. A drunk-up Judd Nelson who plays the washed up military scientist chases after it with the ever-cute Kristy Swanson trying to capture the energy monster and put it back in its hole. Its definitely a B-rate flick, but worth a laugh. Effects are ok, but nothing to write home about. Rated: 2.5 stars out of 5.

Babylon AD (PG-13: 2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364970/
Director: Mathieu Kassovitz. Starring: Vin Diesel … Toorop, Michelle Yeoh … Sister Rebeka, Mélanie Thierry … Aurora, Gérard Depardieu … Gorsky, Charlotte Rampling … High Priestess, Mark Strong … Finn, Lambert Wilson … Darquandier, and many more.
Here is the future. Another apocalyptic, commercialism takes over America, war and strife takes over Russia and much of the rest of the world. Your passport is embedded into your body. Cloning is commonplace on several generations. Machines and humans are merged to where you can’t tell the difference. America prospers while the rest of the world seems to be in decay. Then there is Vin Diesel … with that I’m sure you can predict the synopsis and plot that follows from there. Vin Diesel plays a veteran turned mercenary who just wants to be left alone, but is persuaded in yet another task, yet another adventure. His job is to escort a woman from Russia to New York - across the bering straight, across borders illegally by means of a Russian sub, gun wars and nabbing the woman throughout. Turns out the woman has a twin-virgin birth that some cult wants to make their messiah. Everyone is after the woman. Vin Diesel falls in love with her. Some supernatural properties become involved. The film was totally predictable. Rating: 3 stars out of 5.
