The Great Debaters

January 31, 2009

This is one of the best Denzel Washington movies that I saw. This happened in real life and it was more on the quest of African-Americans to be able to enter the Universities and have equal rights as that of the white people. Its a very inspirational movie which makes people realize of the hardships and the inequality that the black people have gone through over the years. It is very much centered on racism and how the black people used their talents to be able to make it to where they are now. Its worth seeing and is good for the whole family however parents should guide their children in watching the film since there are some scenes which are not for minors. Its a short film which is very much factual.

The Black Hole (2006: PG)

January 30, 2009

Blackhole (2006: PG) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433883/
Director: Tibor Takács; Starring: Kristy Swanson … Shannon Muir; Judd Nelson … Eric Bryce; David Selby … General Ryker; Heather Dawn … Sgt. Alicia Bennett; Jennifer Lyn Quackenbush … Elizabeth Williams; Christa Campbell … Advisor Coldwell; Peter Mayer … General Tate; and many more. Rated PG for sci-fi violence, peril and thematic elements. It’s your typical physics experiment goes bad. Down low in a atomic research facility outside of St. Louis, Missouri; scientists somehow tear the fabric of space and time opening a black hole. The hole is the least of their worries as some kind of energy predator comes out terrorizing the city and power grid, disintegrating humans and sucking energy. Linked to the blackhole this creature feeds the hole to enormous proportions. A drunk-up Judd Nelson who plays the washed up military scientist chases after it with the ever-cute Kristy Swanson trying to capture the energy monster and put it back in its hole. Its definitely a B-rate flick, but worth a laugh. Effects are ok, but nothing to write home about. Rated: 2.5 stars out of 5.

Bucket List

January 29, 2009

I have seen this movie just last year. I am a fan of inspirational movies and I can say that this one made me cry. Jack Nicholson portrayed his role very well as a rude rich man who owns a hospital but want more money so in order to do this he made the private rooms to twin sharing room. Its a good movie to watch since we can pick a lot of morals from it. Its really happening in real life especially sick people and their perspective in life. It’s nice to watch it with the whole family since it also points out family relationships. It made me cry especially because it is hospital and family oriented. It touched me so much that it made me think about my family and my health too. Its definitely worth watching.

8MM (1999-R)

January 29, 2009

8 MM is a action film directed by Joel Schumecher and produced by Judy Hofflund, Gavid Polond and the director himself. The movie was released in the year 1999 and it was written by famous screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. The main star in the film is all time famous and one of my favorites Nicholas Cage. In this film Nicholas Cage plays the role of a private detective named Tom Walles. In this film he is on a mission to find out the reality behind an 8MM film which was found inside the safe of Mrs. Christian’s dead husband. The film showed a young girl being tortured and killed by a man whose face is hidden behind a mask. Now Nicholas Cage has to find and get to the truth behind that film.

The story of the film is good but, the film is very poorly developed. It could have been made better. Overall, it was not a very pleasent experience watching this movie. The movie has been rated R so keep it away from children.
