The New Guy

December 31, 2008

Now this is a great movie. It stars DJ Qualls as Dizzy Harrison. Dizzy is a huge nerd who longs for his senior year in high school to be different. He tries to update his image by getting kicked out of school, but it does not work until many attempts. They send him to prison. In prison he meets Luther, played by Eddie Griffin. Luther teaches him how to be tough and changes his look completely. He is let out of prison and he returns to a different school where girls now throw themselves at him and he is finally living the life he wanted. Popularity is what he now has . But only if his past is not uncovered.
Gene Simmons from KISS has a small role in this film as well. It also stars Lyle Lovett, Eliza Dushku, Zooey Deschanel, Jerod Mixon, Kyle Gass, Justine Johnson, and Parry Shen.

The Ruins

December 31, 2008

The movie “The Ruins” creeped me out a lot. I usually do not care for horror flicks but my boyfriend rented this on PPV, so I thought I would watch it with him. Did not care for it so much. The actors did a great job, but the plot freaked me out.
Four friends are from the United States are on vacation in Mexico. They visit a Mayan Ruin where their friend’s brother and girlfriend are. They drive to the jungle but then walk the rest of the way. One of them cautions about going any further, but they decide to anyway. They reach the Mayan Ruins and are forced to go up them as some Mayans pull guns on them.
THe movie is pretty gory and there is lots and lots of blood. Could have done without all of that, but that is what makes it so gory. While I did not care for it a true horror fan may.

The Lost Boys- The Tribe

December 31, 2008

I really enjoyed the movie “The Lost Boys- The Tribe”. Since the first Lost Boys was great in my eyes I thought this one would be as well. I was so right.
Corey Feldman returns as playing Edgar Frog, a vampire hunter, and he does a great job at playing his role.
Angus Sutherland plays as the lead vampire, Shane. He is Kiefer Sutherland’s younger brother. I thought it was neat that he played the lead as Kiefer played the lead in the first one. Shane gets Nicole, a teen who just moved to the area, to drink his blood. This means that she is part vampire herself and will turn into one once she kills another. But if Shane is killed then Nicole can have her normal life back. It is up to Chris, Nicole’s brother, and Edgar to kill Shane before it is too late.
Great vampire flick. I highly recommend seeing it as it was as good as the first movie. Sutherland lives up to his brother.

15 and Pregnant

December 31, 2008

Kirsten Dunst stars as Tina Spangler, a 15 year old who thinks she loves her boyfriend Ray, who is 16 years old. But Ray tells her they should take a break because he was given a second chance on the Footballs team. Tina finds out a few days later that she is pregnant and tells her friend Laurie, who has a daughter named Allison. Laurie helps Tina tell her mother she is pregnant.
Her mom who is played by Park Overall does not understand how Tina could have gotten pregnant in the first place since she goes to church. Her sister Rachael doesn’t like her sister being pregnant because “Nice families don’t have pregnant 15 year old girls”. She decides she wants to move in with her dad (mom and dad have split right before this all happened), since everything is about Tina.
Tina says she will not give the baby up and that Ray loves her. Turns out Ray has another love interest and Tina tries to get over him. Mom says that Tina is not capable of making decision even though dad says its her choice. Mom says she can not handle a stranger raising her grandchild.
Tina has a baby boy and Rachael starts to come around. It ends with a happy ending.

It is the last day of school in May 1976. The upcoming seniors prepare to haze next years freshmen. They are prepared to go to the extremes and the freshmen know it, trying to escape. They are hazed but then are later invited to join in on the fun, by cruising around town with them, drinking beer, and attending a party. It will be a night no one will soon forget.
I highly rate this movie. It is a 10 in my book.

MegaSnake

December 28, 2008

I just finished watching a really dumb movie on the Scifi channel. It was the movie “MegaSnake”. First of all it did not have the best actors in it. Is this because the Scifi channel is making them and does not have a huge budget? I am not sure.
Second of all the concept was dumb. A man takes a snake from a Native American after being warned not to because this is the last snake of its kind. This snake is in a jar and legend has it that you do not let the snake out, or feed the snake. Well the guy is not that bright and the snake gets out. He ends up eating the guys cat, then escapes to the chicken coop and eats all the animals. Then it winds up eating the guys mother as she goes out to see what is going on. Thus the snake keeps getting bigger and bigger. No one believes that it is a snake until they see it in action. The only way to kill the snake it to show it no fear so it swallows you whole and then you kill it from the inside. How retarded is that? I can not believe that I actually watched the whole 2 hour movie. I rate it as a 2 since it had poor actors and a stupid story line. The special effects were not even that great.

The Spirit (PG-13: 2008)

December 28, 2008

The Spirit (PG-13: 2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0831887/
Director: Frank Miller. Starring:
Jaime King … Lorelei Rox; Gabriel Macht … The Spirit / Denny Colt; Dan Gerrity … Det. Sussman; Arthur the Cat … Himself; Kimberly Cox … Damsel in Distress; Brian Lucero … Thug #1; David B. Martin … Thug #2; and many more. Frank Miller comes back at us with a new film interest of his based on a comic strip that inspired him from childhood “Will Eisner’s The Spirit”. After being a fan of Sin City and 300, one would expect more from this film, but it turned out horribly disappointing. Visually stunning and effective, but the plot and action lacked severely in many categories. Cheesy lines and some poor humor, it still had its moments. Seeing Samual Jackson dressed up as a Nazi was unforgettable. The plot is about the Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City. Rating: 3 stars out of 5.

Another Cinderella Story

December 27, 2008

“Another Cinderella Story” was a cute movie. It had the same basic theme as the Disney Classic, but with a spin of today on it.
Mary is taken in by Dominique after her mother( who worked for Dominique) dies. Dominique has two daughters and together the three of them are terrible to Mary, making her the family maid.
Mary goes to a masked ball and dances with Joey Parker, a very well known singer. She leaves by midnight, rushing out on him dropping her MP3 player. He will give the MP3 player back to only the person who knows the top 5 played songs on it.
The movie stars Selena Gomez, Drew Seely, Jane Linch, Emily Perkins, and Katherine Isabelle. This movie has a great cast and the actors did a good job. I did not care for the actor who played Dominique though. I did not think her acting was that great. But everyone else did a great job.

Wicked

December 27, 2008

Today the movie “Wicked” was on TV. The movie was 2 hours long, with commercials. The movie starred Julia Stilles as Ellie. I feel she did a wonderful job acting in this movie. She had the talent to pull off the role she played.
Her mother is murdered one day while she is at home. After she is buried, Ellie decides that she is the lady of the home, and starts dressing in her mothers fancy dresses and wearing her makeup. Her younger sister is scared to sleep alone, so they both sleep with their dad, whom Ellie adores and loves so much. Things go a little to far with Ellie and dad realizes it. But dad also has a girlfriend who wants to get married because her green card will soon expire. They get married, but Ellie holds it over his head that she will tell what happened between them, so dad tells his new wife he made a mistake.
Ellie’s younger sister realizes what happened. Soon they find Ellie murdered. What is going on that these two were murdered the same way? You will have to watch to find out who murdered who as I do not want to spoil it for you.
