Star Trek Generations still my favorite ‘Trek movie

October 27, 2008

Even after watching the many Star Trek movies over and over again, I still love Star Trek Generations (1994). This movie blends the two eras of Star Trek together seamlessly. My favorite part of the movie is when Kirk and Picard come together to battle the movie’s nemesis: Dr Soran. You get to see each Captains style contrasted to each other. They have to work together and it is awesome for any serious fan of the series to witness. Of course, this battle climaxes with Kirk’s death. Some have called this scene disappointing and a let-down, but I disagree. Kirk and Picard valiantly fight to the end and do not hesitate to cooperate. Shatner gives a memorable speech about being given the opportunity to make a difference. It fulfilled one of his final wishes and makes people think about his stance as a commander. Some of his final words will always be with me: “it’s the least I could do…for the captain of the Enterprise”
