Doomsday (2008: R)
Director: Neil Marshall. Starring: Caryn Peterson … Vagrant Girl; Adeola Ariyo … Nurse; Emma Cleasby … Katherine Sinclair; Christine Tomlinson … Young Eden Sinclair; Vernon Willemse … David / Gimp; Paul Hyett … Hot Dog Victim; and much more.
Alright, this one is a poor-hash of several flicks: Terminator meets Mad Max meets Escape from New York meets I am Legend. Can you get more creative? please? A lethal virus spreads throughout England infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. The authorities block off London and parts of Britain in hopes to quarantine the threat. The country turns to fear and chaos and creates their own world and civilization within the walls. Just like the premise and worldview from the flick “Escape from New York”. Three decades later and the Reaper virus surfaces in another major city outside the quarantine area. So an elite group of specialists go into the zone to retrieve a cure - and thus is the premise of the story. Sound familiar? too much. Yes. There are some artsy moments, and some of the costumery rock, but all in all this film lacks everything. Rating: 2 stars out of 5.

Meet Dave
August 19, 2008
This is the new movie of Eddie Murphy and Gabrielle. It’s about a robot controlled by small aliens that comes to earth. The robot is a replica of Eddie Murphy as Dave.
The movie is funny because the action on how the small aliens controlled the robot to adapt the earthlings moves and ways. They have to pretend that the robot is a normal people. Gabrielle as the 3rd officer is in-charge in researching information they encounter in dealing with others. She’s using the search engine Yahoo and Google. Some of the officers of the robot were fascinated and likely to adapt the earth’s customs. They like to party, dance and eat the earth’s food.
Their mission is to find the small rock they sent before that absorbs the earth’s water. they used it because their planet is in need of water supply. Since that they already adapt to the planet earth and meet new friends, they didn’t continue their mission. They see how beautiful and good people living in earth so,they decided to seek another planet to fulfill their mission.
It’s a good movie to watch. It’s very light and funny.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (R:2008)
Director: Rob Cohen. Starring: Brendan Fraser … Rick O’Connell; Jet Li … Emperor Han; Maria Bello … Evelyn O’Connell; John Hannah … Jonathan Carnahan; Michelle Yeoh … Zi Juan; Luke Ford … Alex O’Connell; Isabella Leong … Lin; and many more.
The Mummy returns to the blockbuster screen with a new twist as the adventure goes to Asia instead of Egypt. The retired couple O’Connell’s decide to go back to work as they take an offer they couldn’t turn down where they are ployed into resurrecting the Han Emperor (Jet Li) and go through a quest ranging from the catacombs of ancient China into the frigid Himilayas. Rick (Brendan Fraser) reunites with his son who joins the adventure - Father, son, wife, brother - a family affair off to stop a 2,000 year old mummy curse that threatens the existence of life as we know it. An immortal double-crossing sorceress assists them in stopping the Dragon Emperor and his 10,000 warriors that are the silent terra cotta army that comes alive. Great adventure and twists … even though I liked the first movies best, this one was worth its weight in terra cotta. Rating: 4 stars out of 5.
NYINDIESEEN
August 10, 2008
nyindieseen is not so crazy about M Night Shayamalan. And honestly? Neither am I. Sixth Sense was amazing, but The Village? Painful!
M Night Shyamalan is a good friend of mine…in my head. I’ve loved his work for years
and as of late M Night has dissapointed me. He hasn’t delivered the way
he has in the past when it comes to making great films with those plot
twisters we all once loved. He was doing
well when he made films like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs.
Hell even though alotta critics and other folk didn’t like it…I
actually cheered for The Village. But then all of the sudden M Night is
shooting out craptacular flicks like Lady In The Water and now…The Happening. Now
the story behind the film—which I won’t spoil for you is actually not
that bad. Unfortunately, the story wasn’t executed as well as it could
have which made the movie quite poor. The plot had some major
potential, but once again my friend in my head just didn’t deliver. Now
what made this movie smell even worse than the 51st train station on a
hot day? Mark Wahlberg acting.
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army (R: 2008)

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (R: 2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411477/
Starring: Ron Perlman … Hellboy, Selma Blair … Liz Sherman, Doug Jones … Abe Sapien / The Chamberlain / The Angel of Death, James Dodd … Johann Krauss, John Alexander … Johann Krauss, Seth MacFarlane … Johann Krauss (voice), Luke Goss … Prince Nuada, and many more. Director:Guillermo del Toro.
Envious and rebellious faery folk have decided to take back the dimensions from the humans and reclaim the world that was theirs. The villian (supposed Elf, but seems to be more of a dark draconian reptoid in my opinion) Prince Nuada confronts his father and sister in telling them its wrong to have let the humans take over the earth, and that he was going to take it back, and no one (not even his family) would stand in his way - regardless if it was breaking an oath and truce that the Fae and humans made long ago. He is on a quest to awaken and control the mythical Golden Army that exists with the ability to destroy the human race. Its brought to Hellboy’s attention and he of course races to save the day while juggling a heated passionate romance and an upcoming life change. Fighting elves, trolls, toothfairies, and otherworldly beasties - there is quite a bit of adventure and fantasy. My favorite being is the Nature God spirit which was killed off way too easily. Interesting plot as it plays off some themes in the prophetic Faerie great awakening rumored in Fairy lore to take place in the near future. The Director Dell Torro had quite a bit of imagination with the creation of this plot, a sequel and continuation to the infamous Hellboy comic series about “Hellboy” who is a creature alive in our world that comes from the otherworld. Perhaps it was the plot, but I far enjoyed this flick over the 1st Hellboy (which upon three attempts at watching all the way through fell asleep). Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5. Viewed 8/1/08.
Flipping Out, Season 2
August 5, 2008
Tonight is the season finale of Flipping Out (Season 2), Bravo’s hilarious hit reality TV show. Flipping Out follows the life of real estate investor Jeff Lewis and his band of co-workers including: Ryan (business partner), Jenni (executive assistant), Chris (house manager), and Zoila (the maid). Sounds dramatic? It is. Jeff Lewis seems to live in a world of total chaos and dysfunction, but within his dysfunction he has created a family-type business environment which lives and dies for real estate. “I sell a complete package…a life style that’s in harmony with and exemplified by the exterior and interior living space.” Jeff explains. “I’m obsessive about the way I live and work, so when it comes to renovating, I believe in finding the true integrity of a house, then breathing life back into it in a way that connects with a certain type of buyer.”
The first season of Flipping Out introduced the world to Jeff Lewis. Most known for his obsessive compulsion and erratic behavior, Jeff is surprisingly humorous and easy to relate to. Within nine years, he has flipped approximately 45 houses in the Los Angeles area. His homes are known for their beauty and meticulous nature (as well as their hefty price tag).
The second season of flipping out delves deeper into the lives of Lewis and his crew. This season a lot of issues surfaced dealing with trust, self-respect, work-ethic and the ability to know when to call it quits. Jeff Lewis opens up not only to show his neurotic side, but his humane side as well. His hidden love for the people and pets in his life is slowly revealed to those who are willing to read between the lines. “He’s crazy,” Jenni, his executive assistant says, “but a lot of geniuses are crazy.”

Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) is a thirty-nine-year-old who has never left home and lives with his divorced mother, Nancy Huff (Mary Steenburgen). Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) is a forty-year-old who also has never left home and lives with his widower father, Dr. Robert Doback (Richard Jenkins). Both of them are unemployed and have been living off the goodness of their parents their whole lives. Nancy meets Robert; they fall in love, marry, and move into Robert’s home. The two sons are forced to live together in the same room as step brothers. Brennan and Dale initially hate each other, but find out that they are not too different. They are like 12-year-olds trapped in adult bodies who haven’t grown up and live in their own little worlds. They become best friends, and then their parents decide to kick them out, because they are getting a divorce. They set up job interviews, but to no avail. Their lives are about to change, and they must grow up. Douglas Young (the-movie-guy).
