“Love’s Enduring Promise”
June 20, 2008
“Love’s Enduring Promise” follows “Love Comes Softly”. Both movies are based on a series of books by author Janette Oke and set in pioneer days.
“Love’s Enduring Promise” is directed by Michael Landon, Jr. and stars Katherine Heigl as Marty Davis and Dale Midkiff as Clark Davis. They are a married couple who came together out of survival and convenience, but then fell in love. They are raising Missy, Clark’s daughter by his first wife who died.
Missy, played by January Jones, is now a young lady and a teacher in a one-room school house. Clark becomes injured and the family is in dire need of help. A mysterious and young stranger, Willie, played by Logan Bartholomew, comes into town and helps out.
Missie is torn. She meets Grant, played by Mackenzie Astin, a very rich man who has come to town. He would love nothing more than to offer all his riches and show her a world she’s never known. Yet, something draws her to Willie, a simple and hardworking young man. The two men have different things to offer Missy, yet she draws on her roots (and heart) to find the answer.
Willie has a secret from his past and one that is tearing him apart. By eventually speaking out about this secret, he’s able to heal and open up.
“Love’s Enduring Promise” is a wholesome movie that projects good morals. The movie is well-paced and the actors work perfectly in their roles.
