“Nim’s Island” (2008)

April 26, 2008

Nim Rusoe, played by Abigail Breslin, is a young girl who lives on an island with her father. She has some unusual friends, the local animals. She loves to read, especially books with the fictional and adventurous character Rover, by the author Alex Rover, played by Jodie Foster.

Alex has sold numerous books to people all over the world and wrote them from the confines of her home. Some wonder if she’s afraid to get out into the world.

Nim’s father, Jack Rusoe, played by Gerard Butler, finds himself in some trouble as he becomes missing at sea. In hopes of trying to find her father, Nim begins corresponding with Alex, her hero. The two draw inspiration from Rover’s character.

Two people worlds apart come together for an adventure and a journey of the imagination. This looks like a great movie for the family. “Nim’s Island” is rated pg for mild adventure action and brief language.
