The modern remake of the classic Television (and movie) series : Battlestar Galactica is about a time in a galaxy far-away where the world ended with no warning, and all that was left was hope. Humans created a robotic race called the Cylons within the twelve colonies. They were intelligent, and used as slaves and soldiers to fight humanity’s wars … but they became sentient and rebelled - man and machine came to a bloody stalemate, and the Cylons disappeared to a remote region of space due to a truce that the 12 colonies and the Cylons created that lasted for 40 years. The Cylons created a new model of themselves - those in human form - some extremely beautiful - and staged a genocidal attack on the 12 colonies. Billions of lives were lost and two warships escaped with a fleet, leaving fewer than 50,000 desperate survivors searching for a new home, running from the Cylons, in search of the legendary Earth. Season 4 is about the finding of Earth and the salvation they seek.
In Episode 1, Fighter Pilot Starbuck who was lost in space and presumed dead at the end of Season 3 just appears during a Cylon fight, in a brand new fighter. She thought she was absent for 4 hours, but in reality she was gone for 2 months. She claims she saw Earth and struggles to get the fleet to believe her who mostly thinks she’s ravingly mad. She gets desperate and tries to get them back on track towards Earth, but they won’t listen. Meanwhile four of the main leaders of the fleet realize that they might be Cylons themselves. Action packed and a good lead off from Season three - especially as Sci-fi broadcast the last several episodes of the adventure before their premiere. Rating : 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Viewed on 4/4/08.
