Saw 3: Review

October 29, 2006

Saw 3 sort of picks up from where Saw 2 ended. It brings back Donnie Wahlberg for a brief period and has flashbacks from both Saw 1 and Saw 2. The movie also seems to shut the door on anymore sequels, so this just might be the last. There are lots of movies that have followed that formula and has only made a trilogy such, The Matrix and the Scream trilogy.

We see the return of the Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda as well as that infamous bathroom from Saw 1 and exactly how the two men ended in that bathroom. Overall it was a good movie and fans of horror and the previous 2 will enjoy it. However it is a bit gorier than the first two films.

Sequel Titles

Apparently a name with words is a good thing for a movie or so says this recent study. Given two different names for the new Daredevil sequel people made different choices. That’s all well and good, but I’m just depressed that they are actually making another Daredevil movie. Did the first one not suck nearly enough for them?

Sequel Titles

“The Titan on the Tracks”, Episode 1

It doesn´t take long for Brennan to figure out “Cam” is a little too familiar with Booth.” ~ © 2006 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. Excellent starting episode for Season 2 of “Bones”. While It’s my first viewing of the season, and thanks to Myspace movies, got to watch it when I don’t get TV at home. I’m addicted. Its a bit of forensic anthropology and tales from a true life forensic anthropologist reprinted on the silver screen. Impressed. Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5. Viewed 10/18/06.

Skeleton Key

Wow … what a well done - Southern swamp voodoo hoodoo horror story packed with ghosts, hoodoo, and Louisiana flavor. I want to go to New Orleans right now! Its a tale of a caregiver nurse who wants to home care for an elderly gent out on a rickity haunted plantation in the middle of the swamps. She quickly finds herself surrounded by Hoodoo and spirits quickly adapting to taking on the arts herself but being given a surprise of her life. A 5 stars out of 5 stars rating film. Must see!

Rupert discusses directors for last ‘Potter’ movies

October 17, 2006

Oh thank you God they’re finally getting down to the last of these godawful movies based on those godawful books!

I’m sorry if this bothers some people but I think that J.K. Rowling is one of the worst writers that have come across our bookshelves in a very long time. Oh don’t send me ranty comments about it either because the fact of the matter is that it’s true.

‘Grudge 2′ thrills box office, Williams doesn’t

October 16, 2006

I feel sorry for both Barry Levinson and Robin Williams because I had really high hopes for their new film collaboration “Man Of The Year”. This is so depressing!. Meanwhile a movie like “Jackass 2″ becomes a hit? So what we’re really saying is that the American filmgoer is getting stupider by the reel right?

Kirsten Dunst to leave movies, study art

October 15, 2006

The actress that I absolutely loathe may have given me reason to be happy about movies again. Spiderman’s girlfriend is retiring from everything Hollywood! Horray! Now if we can just do something to exterminate Mel Gibson from the planet then we’ll be making real strides toward a master race of actors.

How long till there’s a Happy “Halloween”?

October 14, 2006

Oh but what pain there is for me about the new Rob Zombie remake of the 1978 John Carpenter classic “Halloween”.

As some might know Rob Zombie is writing and directing this film which is (apparently) going to be a total friggen remake and not just another sequel. But I don’t care! What we really need is we need to see John Carpenter come back to the fold. If Wes Craven can go crawling back to the horror well to bring us “New Nightmare” in 1994 then Carpenter can certainly get off his butt and bring us a proper “Halloween” film. It doesn’t even have to be a re-make but just a really original sequel to this wildly successful series.

The current remake is still stuck in a sort of pre-production Hell and that’s an excellent thing. Unless Carpenter returns I (and maybe it’s just me) would be glad to see yet another “Halloween” never hit the big screen or even the 99 cent DVD bin down at WalMart.

Most Expensive Comedy Ever Made

October 9, 2006

Many films would like to be remembered but I don’t think that a comedy wants to be remembered as the most expensive. A movie that should be called upcoming but could be called sitting on the shelf collecting dust is called Evan Almighty and at this point it might not see the light of day.

The budget has gone well over $140 million and could top $250 million by the time its finished. IF it’s finished. Honestly only a movie like Titanic should cost that much. By the way this is the sequel to Bruce Almighty starring Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston and Morgan Freeman.
