Grizzly Man
September 29, 2005
Grizzly Man is a documentary about a guy who really loved bears and then one ate him, and the guy was so retardedly hilarious that I was sure that it was fake. That plus Werner Herzog directed it and he did that fake-umentary about Loch Ness? I even went home and researched the story, and there are plenty of news reports about it online, so… sure, I guess. I’m going to feel dumb when it turns out to be a hoax, but for now: It’s Real.
Anyhow. The guy’s name was Timothy Treadwell and there’s not a person alive who’d deny that he got exactly what he deserved. He would camp out at this bear reserve in Alaska every summer and the parks department had all these satefy rules, requiring people to stay 100 feet away from the bears, et cetera, but he’d go right up to them and poke their noses and pretend to be a bear. He reminded me of that character on “Mad TV”, Stuart. The blond guy who’s all squirmy and effete. The best part was when he finds a big bear turd on a rock and is like, “OMG! You guys! It’s Mickey’s poop! It was inside of her! Look, hey, I’m touching her insides! …It’s her poop!”
Actually, the best part was when he got eaten by a bear.
