Chakeres Scioto Breeze Drive-In Twin Drive-in Theater
September 29, 2005
I love to go to the Drive-in not only does it bring back a little nostalga but watching a movie under the stars in the fresh air is the best. My kids love it to because noone yells at them to be quiet. If you have nevr been to a Drive-in Movie Theater you are missing out. Drive-ins have concessions stands to get some popcorn, hamburgers, fires and drinks. But many take a cooler and food with them and just picnic out under the stars while watching the movie. Its a good place for a family to go and be together that doesn’t take a big bite out of your wallet. Or take your girlfriend and enjoy watching the new release movie and maybe a little kissing without people staring at you. So if you haven’t been to a drive-in find one near you and go.
Grizzly Man
September 29, 2005
Grizzly Man is a documentary about a guy who really loved bears and then one ate him, and the guy was so retardedly hilarious that I was sure that it was fake. That plus Werner Herzog directed it and he did that fake-umentary about Loch Ness? I even went home and researched the story, and there are plenty of news reports about it online, so… sure, I guess. I’m going to feel dumb when it turns out to be a hoax, but for now: It’s Real.
Anyhow. The guy’s name was Timothy Treadwell and there’s not a person alive who’d deny that he got exactly what he deserved. He would camp out at this bear reserve in Alaska every summer and the parks department had all these satefy rules, requiring people to stay 100 feet away from the bears, et cetera, but he’d go right up to them and poke their noses and pretend to be a bear. He reminded me of that character on “Mad TV”, Stuart. The blond guy who’s all squirmy and effete. The best part was when he finds a big bear turd on a rock and is like, “OMG! You guys! It’s Mickey’s poop! It was inside of her! Look, hey, I’m touching her insides! …It’s her poop!”
Actually, the best part was when he got eaten by a bear.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
September 21, 2005
In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of a 19 year-old college freshman. Told in flashbacks, ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed and the lawyer who takes on the task of defending him.
This film is incredibly scary and sad at the same time. Emily’s possession begins one night alone in her dorm room, and it is one of the scariest, most nerve-racking scenes I’ve ever seen. There are several more scary scenes through out the movie that are absolutely horrifying it pushes the boundaries of the pg-13 rating it got I feel it is closer to the R rating the courtroom drama is tense and sad, and you never know what the result will be.
This is one of the best and most original films I have seen in awhile filled with heart and terrifying horrors, I just wrote an article a few weeks ago saying I hadn’t seen a good horror flick in forever but then Skeleton Key came out and now Emily Rose so I need to revise my article. This isn’t the typical slasher type movie so if your expecting that then watch something else but if you want to see and experience true horror then go see The Exorcism of Emily Rose
